HMRC Committee Meeting January 7, 2005 In attendance were: Sheeheeda Pierce, May Gerstle, Adam Rawson and Rita Schenck. Shaheeda, Adam and May reviewed and edited the IERE draft proposal. The proposal was accepted as edited. The primary changes related to clarification of the expenditures for preparing the classes, and making it clear that the classes were being performed in response to community requests. May reported on IRPPC. IRPPC supported Mary Ellen Walker to attend a Toxicology meeting. She has written a report about the meeting, having found it to provide lots of good material. May shared information about the Health Department. The footprint study is nearly complete, and contamination was found in north King County. The county is working extensively with schools, preschools, including the STARS program, the soil audit program, and the “Dirt can hurt” program with preschools. The next meeting of HMRC will be on March 4th at 3:00 at the Vashon Library.
