VMICC Executive Board Meeting 4/3/2000 Board Members present: Jake Jacobovich, Josh Putnam, Fred Hansen, Clifford Goodman, May Gerstle, Anne Woodward. Others present: Vic Bottomly (Chair, Governance & Policy Committee), Lauren Bain, Donald Cole, Jo Strom, Sally Fox, Anaiis Salles, Bill Hill, John Burke, Harvey Pegues. April 26 is the deadline to apply for the two vacant Board positions. Applications with brief resume should be submitted to Jake Jacobovich. There are no particular qualifications, other than the candidate have "community visibility." Candidates should attend next Board meeting May 1, 7:30, Chataquah Elementary Multipurpose Room. Board members will interview candidates at that time. Alternatives may be possible for interested candidates who are unable to attend the May 1 meeting. Board members voted unanimously on an open run-off voting process to elect new members. Voting for new Board members will be by ballot, with each Board member casting two votes. If no candidate receives a majority of votes cast, the top three will be in a run-off. If a candidate receives a majority of votes cast, the two runners-up will be in a run-off. The new VMICC by-laws are now posted to VMICC's website. Printed copies were distributed to members and others present. Copies will be given to committee chairs along with an explanation summarizing committee procedures, which Governance and Policy Committee Chair Vic Bottomly agreed to draft. The VMICC presently has five ad hoc committees which are reviewed annually. The Board voted unanimously to ratify Vic Bottomly as Chair of the Governance and Policy Committee. John Burke was introduced as a prospective Parliamentarian for future meetings and agreed to serve for 12 months. Agenda for April 17 General VMICC Meeting: YMCA presentation (15 min.) by Craig Beles and Ms. Jewison; SWM Ordinance motion from Land Use Committee; Diversity Committee Motion for reimbursement for funds spent--friendly amendment will be offered to reduce amount requested to $252, the funds the committee placed in the VMICC treasury. The Diversity Committee representative indicated she would request an additional $250 of VMICC funds at a later meeting.
