VMICC Board Meeting 7/5/04 Vashon Youth and Family Services Approved 9/9/04 GENERAL: Jim English called the meeting to order at 7:20 p.m. Board Members present were: Marilyn Omey, Jack Barbash, Jim English, Yvonne Kuperberg, Jolene Lamb, Gayle Sommers, Joan Sells and Dan Schueler. Jim welcomed everyone, including the board members present. Board meeting minute TREASURER’S REPORT: The Treasurer’s Report was not available because of a couple of unusual expenditures for printing costs. We discussed the new copying costs and decided to move them to the Special Events budget. There was discussion of the cost overruns for printing of the Transportation Committee for the WSF Business Survey. It was suggested that the committee pursue getting some of the supportive businesses to help with some of the printing costs. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Gayle Sommers announced that Allison Jones' Grant Writing Workshop July 12th 6-8:30PM at the library. Jolene Lamb needed to leave after the Treasurer's Report because of circumstances surrounding the recent Vashon fatal car accident. Jack Barbash said that he had made a presentation of a document at recent showings of the movie "Day After Tomorrow." PUBLIC COMMENT: No comment. ROUTINE BUSINESS: July meeting agenda - There will be a bond issue for Library funding coming up on the next ballot. Hester Kremer will be presenting at an upcoming meeting. King County DNR will be presenting a program about the county's SWM program. There was discussion of preliminary planning for the November election of VMICC Board members. Marilyn Omey made a motion to ask for an special authorization for up to $500 to be spent on printing costs of the Ferry / Business Survey, of which approximately $400 has already been spent. The committee will be trying to raise money for the final printing costs from the Vashon business community. The motion was seconded and passed. There was discussion about the mission of the Outreach Committee. Joan Sells talked about planning for the upcoming VMICC / Business Retreat. She mentioned an earlier planning session. She asked for authorization for spending up to $400 to support the event, including costs for a facilitator and publicity. A motion to supply the money was made, seconded and passed. Septic Solutions committee asked to spend up to $200 to bring an expert on PUD formation from Asotin County, WA. to meet with the community about the possibility of forming a PUD to implement the goals of the Septic Solutions committee. OTHER Meeting was adjourned at 9:00PM.
