Vashon Maury Island Community Council Board Meeting Minutes for the May 2, 2005 meeting Courthouse Square The meeting was called to order by President Jim English at 7:15 p.m. The visitors introduced were Mike Sudduth from FAC, Armen Yousoufian, Jay Becker, Sandra Hamilton, Steve Ellison, John Burke, Robin Hess and King County liaison Bong Sto. Domingo. The minutes from the previous council meeting were not available for approval. Jolene Lamb gave the treasurer’s report. There is still $8,063.04 unspent in the budget of $10,000 for the year. Mike Sudduth announced that he has been selected as president of the Ferry Advisory Executive Council. Jay Becker said he felt that voting on the watershed plan at the next council meeting was premature and wanted a motion to postpone the vote until there is input from general staffers. Jim English said that the board couldn't take action and had to wait until the general meeting. Marilyn Omey made a motion that interviews and voting for new board members be at the June 6 board meeting and that an advertisement and article be placed in the newspaper. The motion was passed unanimously. Bong confirmed that the interviews and discussion of potential board members could be done in executive session. Robin Hess, chairman of the Governance and Policy committee reported on the committee's activities. Jim English said that Captain John Burk has agreed to be parliamentarian when needed. Terry Gaskill said that the Restroom Task Force has given a proposal to the Vashon Park District for 2006 funding. There was a general discussion about how to handle the watershed proposal, which has been tabled until May's council meeting, because the proposal has been substantially changed according to May Gerstle. She said that a new mtion will be needed in May for a June vote. The agenda for the May council meeting will be a Septic Solutions Committee report by Steve Graham and a presentation by Matthew Nolan, King County traffic engineer in the Road Services Division, on safety enhancements to the downtown Vashon intersections. Ray Deardorf of WSF had said he would return to update the community at the June meeting. Joan Burlingame, the King County liaison will be scheduled for July. Jack Barbash suggested the board consider buying a laptop computer to go with the power point projector to complete the set for future presentations.
