5/17/00 Land Use Committee meeting minutes Present: Vic Bottomly, Lorin Reinelt Meeting began at 7:45 p.m. Because only two members were present, it was decided that no formal action or agenda would be addressed. The committee brainstormed ideas regarding a mission statement and proposed the following draft from which to work" "The purpose of the Land Use and Natural Resource Committee is to study and advise the VMICC regarding issues relating to zoning policy, development, the Comprehensive Plan, water supply and quality, water resource management and other land use and resource issues of importance to the community." Lorin also proposed that the committee should study and address whether the county should adopt a more flexible approach to septic systems to allow alternative septic systems that have been proven elsewhere. This approach could help alleviate concerns and problems regarding septic system failures and potential contamination of aquifer. No further business was addressed, and the meeting was adjourned.
