 Fred Hanson reported on illegal shooting of deer -- 2 cases -- Control ??

Vashon unusual in that KC police, not game wardens, enforce -- not trained

o Disaster Planning for Vashon -- Puget Sound Energy (PSE) -- Joe Jainga
 Electricity: Des Moines (Kent) -- Vashon - Kitsap
 Gas: Des Moines -- Vashon -- Gig Harbor; plans under way to complete loop
 Des Moines -- Tacoma -- Gig Harbor
 Electrical work crew on island during normal work day
 In emergency, crew(s) will be brought to island -- how fast?
 Many questions on how to handle down lines quickly when crew not here -
 No satisfactory answers -- same thing for ruptured gas mains, except
 Gas mains are monitored for pressure drop & can be shut down remotely
 Emergency phone service apparently same as regular -- all go down together
 Discussion of Y2K and impact on PSE
 La Nina this year -- implications -- preparedness?

 Families encouraged to be self reliant & helping each other -- small
communities
