No Minutes PRESENTATION o Disaster Planning for Vashon -- Ham Radio -- Ward Silver 60 Hams on island, 15-20 active Emergency Communications -- Organized nationally & in King County (ARES) Team Victor (Vashon) -- about 6 hams would be available to agency in charge Team can provide: Communications between agencies with different frequencies Communication assistance for public agencies Relay service between individuals, island and/or world wide Lots of little details Hams deal primarily with Fire Dept, Red Cross, and Vashon Clinic o PSE update -- Two people (electrical) and truck on island at all times -- limited ability o Mark Musick talked about Y2K problems -- handed out some information Letter to be developed for island businesses/organizations o Rick Frye available to teach neighborhood groups about emergency preparedness OTHER BUSINESS Reward for info on vandalism culprits -- suggested that this be brought up at Council level -- no appropriate committee, they have purse strings Shooting at Vashon Care Center -- concensus is need for more education -- Need for media blitz next summer in advance of hunting season Rick Frye provided minutes from November meeting of North Burton Hill Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Recovery Neighbors Association (what a mouthful) Item to note -- they were discussing the possibility of petitioning for a Large no hunting zone -- Judd Creek, 115th, and the sound! Next meeting Wed Jan 13th, same time and place -- Y2K letter, video, etc.
