No guard rails installed in 1999; county is studying implications of Vashon being an equestrian community Minutes for meetings of Jan 13th and Feb 10th approved with minor corrections PRESENTATIONS/DISCUSSION Y2K Subcommittee Report -- Mark Musick or Robert Gluckson Chris Fedde reported -- Mark Musick not present and Robert Gluckson resigned Committee met just prior to this meeting is in the process of re-organizing Y2K miniconference on Feb 28th was a success -- list of attendees kept Web site being put together -- www.Vashon-Y2K.org Education is the main focus -- need for more publicity Plan to develop a motion regarding need for preparation Next meeting tentatively Mar 24th, 7PM, J. Scott Illegal Hunting -- The Tobin Report & Beyond Fred Hanson reported -- New state hunting rules not available yet Distributed Fish and Wildlife document on how to report a crime Excellent report -- had copious detail Fred suggested if you have an armed, uninvited person on your property the best strategy to get action was call 911 and report armed intruder Other comments -- Hunting essential to control deer population -- hunting rules online -- Publicity needed in the summer -- Helps to post property OTHER BUSINESS Medical supply gap in case of emergency Nancy Douglas reported -- she had met with all the physicians on the islan= d Agreement on need to stockpile certain medical supplies not here now Caches -- at least the health center and the fire department Need for funds to acquire this stockpile Planning a seminar in the fall for physicians on how to deal with earthquake Provided a sample list of supplies Also provided an article from the New England Journal of Medicine, "Current Concepts: A Medical Disaster Response to Reduce Immediate Mortalit= y after an Earthquake"
