VMICC Motion Guidelines


SUBMITING A MOTION AT A
GENERAL COUNCIL MEETING:
  • MOTIONS SHALL BE MADE AND SECONDED TO THE COUNCIL AT A REGULARLY SCHEDULED GENERAL COUNCIL MEETING (The VMICC normally meets the third Monday of each month, 7:30 PM, at COURTHOUSE SQUARE, across Vashon Highway from DIG nursery.)
  • Persons proposing a motion are to provide two written copies (preferably typed) of the resolution--one to the council clerk and the other to the council chair--at the time the motion is proposed so it can be recorded and posted on the council website. motions must be titled to ease public access to the motion on the website. An electronic version of the motion if available is to be forwarded to the council’s webmaster at dans@islandimage.net. within two days of the council meeting at which it was proposed.
  • Motions will normally be voted on at the next Monthly General Council Meeting.
  • HOWEVER, motions of an urgent nature (moot if delayed) may be voted on at the same general meeting if doing so is first authorized by a two-thirds vote of the Council Board members present; followed by a two-thirds vote of the General Council members present.
  • If a motion stipulates an action is to be taken by the Board or an officer of the Board, the maker of the motion is responsible for providing whatever letters, documents, names, contact information or other appropriate materials as may be needed to effect that action(s) to the Council Clerk and the affected Board member as soon as practical.
